EXHIBITION GRADE RUSSIAN IMPERIAL CAUCASIAN SHASHKA TO A HIGH RANKING OFFICER

Spectacular Caucasian shashka to a military commander within Russian Army ranks. Silver “84” “kokoshnik” and silversmith hallmarks, possibly Vladikavkaz and most likely made by Dagestani armourer between 1908 and 1917.

Very fine condition of the silver niello chiselled hilt and scabbard. Polished blade with traces of etching to ricasso section of the blade. Applied initial letter “A” and remaining part of the second letter applied to the scabbard.
